You were like a
merchant looking for good pearls, Oh glorious sovereign Vladimir, sitting at
the height of the table to the mother of cities, God-saved Kyiv: testing and
sending to the Tsar’s city to learn the Orthodox faith, you found a priceless pearl
- Christ, who had chosen you, like a second Paul, and shook off blindness in the
holy font, both spiritual and bodily together. In the same way, we celebrate
your Assumption, [and] being people of yours, do pray that your Russian state
be saved by the head and the multitude of dependents.

Like the great
Apostle Paul, in gray hair, you all-glorious Vladimir, all [being yourself] like
an infant’s wisdom, even about the idols of diligence, remaining like a perfect
man, you adorned yourself with the
purple robe of Divine Baptism, and now, standing before Savior Christ in joy,
pray that the state of Russia be saved by the head and the multitude of dependents
.
Prayer to the
Equal-to-the-Apostles
Great Prince Vladimir
O great pleaser of
God, God-chosen and glorified by God, Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir!
You rejected evil faith and pagan wickedness, you believed in the One True
Trinitarian God, and, having received Holy Baptism, you enlightened the whole
Russian country with the light of Divine faith and piety. Glorifying and also thanking
the Most Merciful Creator and our Savior, we glorify and thank you, our
enlightener and father, for through you we have come to know the salvific faith
of Christ and were baptized in the Name of the Most Holy and Most Divine
Trinity: by that faith we have been delivered from God’s righteous condemnation,
the eternal slavery to the devil and hell’s torment: by that faith we have
received the grace of sonship to God and the hope of inheriting Heavenly bliss.
You are our first leader to the Head and Maker of our eternal salvation, the
Lord Jesus Christ; you are a man of warm prayer and intercessor for the Russian
country, for the army and for all the people. Our tongue cannot depict the
greatness and height of the blessings that you poured out onto our land, onto our
fathers and forefathers, and onto ourselves, the unworthy. O all-good Father
and Enlightener of ours! Look down at our infirmities and beg the most merciful
King of Heaven, that He be not angry with us, for because of our infirmities we
sin all the days, that He not destroy us for our iniquities, but that He pardon
and save us, by His mercy, that He plant in our heart His salvific fear, that He
enlighten our minds with His grace, so we may understand the ways of the Lord, that
we leave the paths of wickedness and deceptions, but strive in the paths of
salvation and truth, unswerving fulfillment of the commandments of God and the
ordinances of the Holy Church. Pray, Oh good-hearted, the Lord Lover of
mankind, that He grant us His great mercy, that He deliver us from the invasion
of foreigners, from internal discords, rebellions and strife, from famine,
deadly diseases and from all evil, that He give us healthful climate of the air
and fruitfulness of the earth, that He give the shepherd zeal for the salvation
of the flock, and give all people to hasten to rectify diligently their worship,
have love among themselves and have unanimity, to faithfully strive for the
good of the Fatherland and the Holy Church, that the light of the salvific faith
shine in all ends of our country, that all heresies and schisms be abolished, and
also, having lived like this in peace on earth, that we be vouchsafed together
with you eternal bliss, praising and exalting God forever and ever. Amen.

Уподобился еси купцу, ищущему добраго бисера, славнодержавный Владимiре, на высоте стола седя матере градов, богоспасаемаго Киева: испытуя же и посылая к Царскому граду уведети православную веру, обрел еси безценный бисер - Христа, избравшаго тя, яко втораго Павла, и оттрясшаго слепоту во святей купели, душевную вкупе и телесную. Подобствовав великому апостолу Павлу, в сединах, всеславне Владимiре, вся яко младенческая мудрования, яже о идолех тщания, оставль, яко муж совершенный, украсился еси Божественнаго Крещения багряницею, и ныне, Спасу Христу в веселии предстоя, моли спастися державы Российския начальником и множеству владомых.О великий угодниче Божий, богоизбранный и богопрославленный, равноапостольный княже Владимiре! Ты отринул еси зловерие и нечестие языческое, уверовал еси во Единаго Истиннаго Триипостаснаго Бога и, восприяв Святое Крещение, просветил еси светом Божественныя веры и благочестия всю страну Русскую. Славяще убо и благодаряще Премилосердаго Творца и Спасителя нашего, славим, благодарим и тя, просветителю наш и отче, яко тобою познахом спасительную веру Христову и крестихомся во Имя Пресвятыя и Пребожественныя Троицы: тою верою избавихомся от праведнаго осуждения Божия, вечнаго рабства диаволя и адова мучительства: тою верою восприяхом благодать всыновления Богу и надежду наследования Небеснаго блаженства. Ты еси первый вождь наш к Начальнику и Совершителю нашего вечнаго спасения Господу Иисусу Христу; ты еси теплый молитвенник и ходатай о стране Русской, о воинстве и о всех людех. Не может язык наш изобразити величие и высоту благодеяний, тобою излиянных на землю нашу, отцев и праотцев наших и на нас, недостойных. О всеблагий отче и просветителю наш! Призри на немощи наша и умоли премилосердаго Царя Небеснаго, да не прогневается на ны зело, яко по немощем нашим по вся дни согрешаем, да не погубит нас со беззаконьми нашими, но да помилует и спасет нас, по милости Своей, да всадит в сердце наше спасительный страх Свой, да просветит Своею благодатию ум наш, во еже разумети нам пути Господни, оставити стези нечестия и заблуждений, тщатися же во стезях спасения и истины, неуклоннаго исполнения заповедей Божиих и уставов Святыя Церкве. Моли, благосерде, Человеколюбца Господа, да пробавит нам великую милость Свою, да избавит нас от нашествия иноплеменных, от внутренних нестроений, мятежей и раздоров, от глада, смертоносных болезней и от всякаго зла, да подаст нам благорастворение воздуха и плодоносие земли, да даст пастырем ревность о спасении пасомых, всем же людем споспешение о еже усердно службы своя исправляти, любовь между собою и единомыслие имети, на благо же Отечества и Святыя Церкве верне подвизатися, да возсияет свет спасительныя веры в стране нашей во всех концех ея, да упразднятся вся ереси и расколы, да тако поживше в мире на земли, сподобимся с тобою вечнаго блаженства, хваляще и превозносяще Бога во веки веков.
